How we ship

Every Colonial Iron Doors door is heavy — between 420 and 900 lbs — so it ships by LTL freight truck on its own pallet, never by parcel carrier. Your door is crated, strapped and protected for transit.

Shipping cost

Freight is calculated live at checkout from your ZIP code, the delivery service level you choose and your door's weight. There are no hidden handling fees — you see the exact amount before you pay.

For most addresses in the continental United States (lower 48) freight lands between $1,000 and $2,300. Rural addresses, long driveways, difficult access, upgraded service levels and the heaviest double doors sit at the high end of that range, and in some cases can exceed it. Whatever the carrier quotes is exactly what you pay — we do not mark freight up.

Delivery service levels

You choose your service level at checkout:

Curbside (Liftgate) — the carrier lowers your door to the curb of your home or business with a liftgate. You are responsible for moving it from the curb.
Threshold — the door is placed at your porch, garage or first dry area. No signature or appointment required.
White Glove — Light Assembly — the carrier carries the door inside to the room of your choice (including up to two flights of stairs), unpacks it and removes the packaging.

Please make sure someone 18 or older is available to receive and inspect the shipment. A door weighs 420–900 lbs; plan for help moving it once it is off the truck.

Production and delivery times

Ready to Ship doors — ship in 2–3 weeks
Standard made-to-order doors — 4–6 weeks production, plus shipping transit time
Custom projects — 8 weeks production, plus shipping transit time

Freight transit within the lower 48 typically adds 5 to 10 business days after your door leaves our facility. The carrier will contact you to schedule delivery. All times are estimates and are not guaranteed; we are not liable for carrier delays or events outside our control.

Inspect your delivery

Please inspect your door before signing the delivery receipt. If you see damage to the crate or the door:

Note the damage in writing on the carrier's delivery receipt before you sign.
Take photos of the crate and the door.
Contact us within 48 hours at irwin@colonialirondoors.com.

We stand behind every door we ship and will make it right — replacement, repair or refund. Claims reported more than 48 hours after delivery may not be eligible.

Address changes

Let us know as soon as possible if your shipping address changes. Once a door has been picked up by the carrier, address changes may not be possible or may incur a re-consignment fee from the carrier.
